David Vickers was born in Sinton, Texas, in 1961 and spent much of his career teaching middle school history in Bee County. A passionate student of regional history, he participates in historical reenactments and researches South Texas’s connections to broader Civil War and frontier history. He and his wife, Laura, live near Odem, Texas, where he operates a custom hat business. They have two daughters, Emma and Julia.
