
Loyd M. Uglow is a native Texan with more than four decades of experience as a full-time history instructor, most of them at the university level. He holds a master’s degree in History from the University of West Florida and a Ph.D. from the University of North Texas, with additional graduate study at the U.S. Naval War College. A retired commander (O-5) in the U.S. Naval Reserve, he has taught a wide range of courses including Western Civilization, Military History, and Texas History. His published works include A Military History of Texas and Standing in the Gap: Army Outposts, Picket Stations, and the Pacification of the Texas Frontier, 1866–1886.
