Randy Mallory is a freelance writer and photographer whose 50-year career has chronicled the people, places, and stories that define Texas. His work—featured in publications such as Texas Highways, Texas Co-Op Power, and projects for the Texas Historical Commission—has long celebrated the landscapes and heritage of the Lone Star State.

In 2022, Mallory donated his extensive archives, including thousands of photographs and hundreds of research folders, to the University of North Texas Special Collections. His latest book, The Fifty-Year Texas Road Trip: On Assignment from Earth to Uncertain (UNT Press, 2024), serves as both a retrospective and a cultural history, blending striking photography with behind-the-scenes stories that capture a vanishing Texas. Through his lens and prose, Mallory has preserved a half-century of change while honoring the enduring spirit of the state.
