Dr. Robert Bubb is a lecturer and researcher in the Human Development and Family Science Department at Auburn University and a Virginia Humanities Scholar. He received the American Psychological Association’s Wilbert McKeachie Teaching Excellence Award and teaches collaborative classes in junior high and high schools on local African American history and cemetery preservation.
Outside the classroom, Dr. Bubb serves as an associate pastor at Ebenezer Baptist Church and as a chaplain in the Alabama Army National Guard. Honoring a promise to his late grandfather, he has spent over a decade researching and documenting the lives of his enslaved ancestors in Texas. Originally from Brenham, his forebears were brought to Washington County by members of the Old Three Hundred and likely contributed to building the area’s early infrastructure. Their stories are central to Dr. Bubb’s personal and professional mission.
