W. Dale Weeks holds a Ph.D. in history from Texas A&M University and is a member of the history faculty at Blinn College in Bryan. He also serves as a Visiting Lecturer at Texas A&M University, teaching courses on Texas history, Southern history, and the Civil War. His book Cherokee Civil Warrior: Chief John Ross and the Struggle for Tribal Sovereignty (University of Oklahoma Press, 2023) explores Indigenous leadership and resistance during the Civil War. His current research examines how Texans shaped and implemented Confederate Indian policy north of the Red River.
