2021 Annual Meeting

TSHA announces its 125th Annual Meeting will be held virtually

The meeting was originally scheduled to be held in Fort Worth on March 4-6, 2021

As the coronavirus continues to affect Texas and the United States, the Texas State Historical Association recently announced its decision to hold its upcoming 2021 Annual Meeting online. This marks the first time in the meeting’s 125-year history that the event will not be conducted in person.

TSHA staff and its Board of Directors came to this unanimous decision after reviewing guidance from the medical community, receiving input from presenters and previous attendees, and evaluating several online meeting platforms. Given the widespread concern regarding the transmission risks associated with large indoor gatherings, the decision to move the meeting online—rather than in person at its original location in Fort Worth—was ultimately made to protect the health of the meeting’s participants.

The Association is making every effort to offer a meeting familiar to regular attendees. The virtual meeting will include informative sessions featuring the research of Texas history scholars, a presentation of awards and fellowships, a silent auction, and special events. Over the next few weeks, TSHA will study similar events and enter negotiations with a well-respected virtual event company, all in an effort to create an immersive online experience. This site will be updated as more details about the meeting, including the speaker and event schedule, are announced.
