Dr. Anne J. Bailey is a historian and author of nine books, numerous chapters, and more than 300 articles and reviews. She served for nearly twenty-five years as editor of the Society of Civil War Historians Newsletter and for ten years as editor of the Georgia Historical Quarterly. Dr. Bailey has taught at Texas Tech University, the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, and within the University of Georgia system. Her current work explores the cultural and social history of nineteenth-century Texas through the lens of horse racing. She lives in Cleburne, Texas.
