
Dolph Briscoe IV, who goes by “D.B.,” is a lecturer in history at Texas A&M University–San Antonio. He earned his Ph.D. in history from The University of Texas at Austin in 2014, conducting much of his dissertation research on Texas politics from the 1960s through the 1980s at the Briscoe Center for American History.
Born in San Antonio and raised in the South Texas towns of Cotulla and Carrizo Springs, Briscoe earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in history from Baylor University. He currently serves as chair of the board of the Kate Briscoe Marmion Charitable Foundation.
A grandson of the late Governor Dolph Briscoe, D.B. continues his family’s legacy of public service and engagement with Texas history. He lives in San Antonio with his wife, Margaret, and their daughters, Caroline and Elizabeth.
