Laurie Bricker is a native Houstonian and a graduate of the University of Texas and the University of Houston.

Laurie has volunteered on many boards—local, state, and regional. She was elected to the Houston Independent School District’s Board of Trustees, where she served twice as president. She was appointed by Governor Rick Perry to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board and the State Board for Educator Certification. She has also served on the Southern Association of Schools and Colleges Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC).

She is a graduate of Leadership Houston and a Senior Fellow of the American Leadership Forum. Among her many leadership awards, Laurie received the Good Heart Humanitarian Award from Jewish Women International, the Women on the Move Award, the SAVVY Award, and the Joseph Jaworski Public Service Award from the American Leadership Forum.

Laurie provides pro bono advice to many prospective elected and appointed candidates for office and has always prided herself on keeping her finger on the pulse of policy and politics.

Laurie is known and respected as a passionate advocate for education. She married her Bellaire High School sweetheart and is a mother of two married children and a grandmother—“Meme”—to four boys.
