
Shouyue Zhang is a Ph.D. candidate in History at the University of Melbourne, where his dissertation explores the intertwined histories of Chinese and Taiwanese immigrants in twentieth-century Texas. His research situates local communities within Cold War transnational frameworks, analyzing how education, religion, and civic life intersected with global politics.
A forthcoming Visiting Research Affiliate at UT Austin’s Institute for Historical Studies, Zhang has published in the Journal of American Ethnic History and The World History Review. His recent work, From Taiwan to Texas: The Taiwanese Diaspora and Politics in Post-WWII Texas, highlights the evolving identities and political participation of Texas’s Taiwanese diaspora.
