
Barry L. Macha has served as General Counsel for Midwestern State University (MSU Texas) in Wichita Falls since November 1, 2010. When MSU Texas became a component institution of the Texas Tech University System in 2021, he continued in his role, serving on the president’s cabinet and providing legal counsel on a broad range of issues including litigation, compliance, employment, student affairs, real estate, and contracts.
Before joining MSU Texas, Macha was the elected district attorney for Wichita Falls and Wichita County for more than 25 years. He also twice served as president of the Texas District & County Attorneys Association (1998 and 2009).
Macha earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Houston Law Center and a bachelor’s degree from MSU Texas, where he has also taught undergraduate courses on the legal and ethical environment of business.
He and his wife, Jane, have one daughter, Hannah (“Scout”).
