
Bradford M. Jones is Director of the Texas Historical Commission’s Archeology Division and the State Archeologist of Texas. With more than 25 years of experience in the archeology and ethnohistory of Texas and the Americas, he has conducted research across all periods of Texas history, focusing on the articulation of Native American communities with European colonial empires and their material expression. Jones was closely involved in the excavation and exhibition of the French ship La Belle and is currently preparing a report on the THC excavations of Fort St. Louis and Presidio La Bahía. His presentation explores the archeological and historical process behind locating and identifying the grave of Texas Ranger James Coryell.
