Paul N. Spellman received his B.A. from Southwestern University, his M.A. from the University of Texas at Austin, and his Ph.D. from the University of Houston. He taught for many years at Wharton County Junior College, where he is now Professor Emeritus. The author or editor of eight books on Texas history, Dr. Spellman is currently writing historical novels for both adults and young readers. A member of the Texas State Historical Association, he was inducted into the Western Writers of America in 2009.
