William V. Scott is a historian whose research interests include environmental history, borderlands, and military history as they relate to Texas, the United States, Mexico, and Latin America. He earned a B.A. in History from Texas A&M University–San Antonio, an M.A. in History from the University of Texas at San Antonio, and is currently a Ph.D. candidate in History and Graduate Part-Time Instructor at Texas Tech University.

Scott’s research, “Fort Ewell, Texas: A Forgotten Borderlands Post of the Nueces River, 1852–1854,” was published in the Texas State Historical Association’s Touchstone. He also contributed to a GIS mapping project for Bexar County during San Antonio’s Tricentennial celebration. In addition to authoring numerous entries for the Handbook of Texas Online, he serves on the Executive Advisory Committee for the Handbook of Texas Medicine.
